This project was our end-of-year assignment to showcase the skills we learned throughout the module. We used After Effects to make all of the animations, utilising tools such as the pen tool and shape tool to create graphics natively in After Effects, and we also used the camera and the effects panel.

I started by making a storyboard outlining the key stills and motion that will happen in the video.

I used the pen tool and shape tool to create all the graphics inside of After Effects, referencing graphics of characters from Cartoon Network. I made the characters do simple movements while you can see them, such as waving, hair flowing and jumping. I used 3D layers to animate the box moving, which was pretty tedious to set up, as I had to line up the box on all sides with no gaps.

I created the graphics in Illustrator and traced the logo that Artfight uses to make it fully accurate. I made the brush and pen draw their way to the “fight” as the premise of Artfight is that two teams of artists go against each other and create art to gain points for their own team. I had the sheild appear and glow while the brush and pen battle and then splat down to create the logo.
